And he said “All there will ever be is what’s happening here and the decisions we make in this moment which are based in either love or fear.”
This is exactly where my head has been for the past month or so…dealing with this paradigm…witnessing this paradox of fear based decisions from people that express supreme confidence, including myself.
I originally watched Jim Carrey’s 2014 commencement speech to the graduates of MUM several months ago…and was mesmerized…inspired…moved. It’s 26 minutes of Jim Carrey that you might not see anywhere else. He’s charming and funny and his intellectual wit is spot on for his audience, like you’d expect, but his honesty…vulnerability…insightfulness is unexpected…but welcomed.
When it popped back up on my Facebook feed today, I decided to give it another listen. There are too many profound statements to quote…and too much conceptual wit to convey in this blog. So I’ll keep my words to a minimum in hopes you are willing to spend the next 26 minutes listening to his speech.
At 10:12 is where it gets really, really good….and is a great place to start if you can’t watch the whole thing.
And if you only have one minute, BuzzFeed did it’s best to boil it down to that which you can’t miss: http://www.buzzfeed.com/maycie/this-61-second-video-of-jim-carreys-commencement-speech-will
And if a minute is too much of a commitment, at least read these words….
“You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”
“The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.”
and perhaps my most favorite
“…It’s just about letting the Universe know what you want and working toward it while letting go of how it comes to pass. Your job is not to figure out how it’s going to happen for you, but to open the door in your head and when the door opens in real life…just walk through it. And don’t worry if you miss your cue…cause there’s always doors opening. They keep opening.“
Now go forth…free yourself….and choose love.
