Nothing but smiles

Nothing but smiles after announcing my “retirement”

After 15 years climbing the corporate ladder, I’ve  “retired”.  I’ve exited the “rat race” to dive head first into the “human race”.  My plan?  To spend 365 days getting to know the most important human in my life….me!  This is my journey.

I can’t say it will be pretty but it’ll be real…and hopefully a little inspiring.

And it all starts here…on Day 0.  Enjoy!

This is very interesting to me. Henry David Thoreau said, “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”

I am close to retirement (less than a year). So I am curious about your journey and plan to follow along.

I just read your “about” and it reminded me of how I felt after my husband died. I went from being a daughter — to being a wife — to being a mother. I never had or spent the time being me. What did I want? What did I need? I spent the next 9 years figuring it out. (Hopefully, it won’t take you that long.) I still don’t have all the answers, but I do know these things .. I need to be heard … I sometimes need comfort … I don’t need to be taken care of … I don’t need or want to smothered.

  3. March on, brave one…

  4. Love the idea for your blog! I’ve recently launched a “Year of Self’ so really enjoy reading about how others have changed their lives.

Now I need to work my way backwards through your posts!
